Staniforth Architects were approached by a client whose ambition is to live with their family surrounded by the beautiful Leicestershire countryside in a self-sustaining, innovative and environmentally low-impact home.
The creation of an off-grid two-storey dwelling, which positively enhances its context and the environment, have been explored and submitted to the Local Planning Authority.
The U shaped plan (farmstead arrangement) consists of three wings angled to take advantage of sunlight and views towards the landscape. Externally, the scheme appears as a sculptural object embedded in the landscape.
